** My family and I sailed as guests of Carnival Cruise Line. So, get ready to be creative … and create a great keepsake or gift for someone special with Michaels and Carnival Cruise Line. (Maggie’s birthday wish list just got a lot longer!) Activities/topics may vary per ship. All the crafting and creative items are available for purchase at Michaels. While this activity is completely free, children must be accompanied by an adult. This is the replacement to the pre-Covid shutdown 'Fun-Times. Copies of the daily What's Happening newsletter were available for pick-up at Guest Services on Deck 3 or Coffee Bar on Deck 5. The ‘Make It with Michaels’ activity is perfect for families and is available on most ships within the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. The What's Happening daily newsletter is a single sheet of paper that is double sided and contains an overview of the day's events, activities, and dining. I was proud of her for taking time to slow down and enjoy being creative. She was excited to see them and thought a welcome card would be a nice surprise for them. She ended up creating a cute card for her friends that would be visiting Florida soon after we got off the ship. As she created her masterpiece, we talked about all of the fun adventures we’d had during our cruise. This crafting opportunity was a great way for us to spend time together away from the fun on the Lido deck. She’s my thinker, my reader… my quiet one. Maggie isn’t the type of kid to jump out on the dance floor and she doesn’t want to be the center of attention. While the stage area was filled with supplies for use during the hour, we all made new friends while sharing stamps and colored pencils with other guests. I could see Maggie’s little internal, creative wheels spinning – she was excited.Ĭrafting activities vary on each sailing and I loved seeing family members of all ages making things together. Whether it was for your room steward, your server in the dining room or maybe someone at home - there were TONS of supplies available for making cards. On this particular sailing, there were supplies to make greeting cards. When we arrived, Maggie wanted to make sure we got there early – she was so anxious to see what supplies would be available for creating. (But, not counting down the days until our cruise was over!) Time to Get Creative with Michaels Held on the final sea day, Maggie was counting down the days until it was time for creating. On our recent Carnival cruise, Maggie was thrilled to find the new ‘Make it with Michaels’ activity listed in the Fun Times guide via the Carnival HUB mobile app. From cardboard to markers, stamps and even pipe cleaners - she’s always thinking about what to make next! She loves getting her hands on things to create a masterpiece. I will post more if anyone has questions or has comments on anything I’ve already said.My ten-year old Maggie, she’s a creator. This is an amazing touch and really goes a long way. All of the servers and other employees were so unbelievably kind and helpful. Maybe we just ordered wrong but everything was just so…bland. Because honestly, the MDR food options were not exceptional. I didn’t know this! And would’ve definitely taken advantage. I’m also reading that some of the specialty restaurants are included in the main dining options. You just need to know the open and close times. While on the topic of food, there’s tons of it and it’s always available. You see things on cruises that make you roll your eyes at other peoples’ unawareness, but, that’s the nature of the beast. They let people take entire pizzas sometimes. Even when there was a line the two cooks working the station always had fresh pies coming out. They had pizza coming out fast and fresh. That’s a little late for the early birds. On port day they opened the buffet at 6:30am. I always felt bad bugging the bartenders when I just wanted a coke. You had to go to a bar and muddy up their line and deal with the people wanting alcoholic drinks. I also thought the BB package would include a carnival souvenir cup/bottle and you would just refill it at designated soda stations. The coffee, tea, lemonade, and water was all included. And just done it for each time me or my kids wanted a soda. So in reality, I should’ve just bought ONE bottomless package. They make you swipe your card for EVERY SINGLE drink. I purchased the Bottomless Bubbles for our three-person group. Some of the food offerings begin opening up too at this time. This is the perfect time to roam the ship and get acquainted with your new home. Getting to the gate at your scheduled boarding time played a part in how smooth it was.Įxplore the ship. I’m not sure what Faster to the Fun buys you. I’m wondering how much cheaper the other places on Harborside Drive are as you get closer to the ship. $70 parking and free shuttle boarding and check in. There’s no real point to this post other than to maybe share my experience and also gain insight from more well traveled cruisers. I am finding myself wanting to become more knowledgeable for future cruises, so I wanted to provide a summary of my experience during the cruise. It was the 5-Day to Cozumel sailing out of Galveston.
